How ReactDesk compares
Almost everyone who moves to ReactDesk comes from one of four places. Here is what each one does well, what it stops doing well, and what actually changes.
Where people come from
Coming from paper and Excel
Excel is free, it is yours, and for one person it works. It stops working when two people edit the same sheet, when a customer rings to ask where their repair is, and when you need last year's numbers for the accountant. ReactDesk keeps the same columns you already think in, but one person's edit does not overwrite another's, the customer gets a status link, and the year is already summed.
Coming from a general CRM
A general CRM is built around deals and contacts. It will hold your clients nicely and know nothing about a part in stock, a warranty that runs to a date, or a receipt the tax authority expects. Shops usually end up with the CRM plus a spreadsheet beside it. ReactDesk is narrower on purpose: repairs, stock, sales and the documents around them, in one place.
Coming from a till or POS only
A till is good at taking money and blind to everything before and after it. It does not know a repair is waiting for a part, that a client has been in three times with the same fault, or what you owe a supplier. ReactDesk includes the till, and the sale comes off the same stock the workshop is using.
Coming from an accounting program
Accounting software is built for your accountant, not for the person at the counter. It is exact about invoices and silent about the work that produced them. The two are not rivals: ReactDesk runs the shop day to day and hands over clean documents — PEPPOL e-invoices, VAT summaries, exports — for the accounting side to take.
When ReactDesk is not the right fit
- You need full double-entry accounting inside one program — use an accounting system and let ReactDesk feed it.
- You run a business with no stock, no jobs and no counter, where a notebook of contacts is genuinely enough.
- You need a heavily customised workflow written to order. ReactDesk is configurable, not bespoke.
